Mark Feezell, composer...
The music of Mark Feezell has been performed in Denton, Dallas, Fort Worth, Longview, San Antonio, and as part of a conference in Louisiana. His compositions and arrangements have been purchased by musicians in 36 countries. The contemporary music group Voices of Change in Dallas recognized his Songs of Consonants, stating, "The moving work is an interweaving of text and piano which was superbly conveyed." Mark Feezell earned his Ph.D. in Music Composition from the University of North Texas at Denton in 2003. Dr. Feezell was born in San Antonio and earned his Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth. From 2003-2006 he was Visiting Assistant Professor of Music at Claflin University in Orangeburg, South Carolina. He is currently a Lecturer in Music Theory at Southern Methodist University in Dallas.

Mark Feezell, theorist...
In his four years of graduate study at UNT, Dr. Feezell maintained a 4.0, passed all qualifying exams in the first round, and completed his dissertation in ten months. The dissertation consists of a 24-minute composition for chamber orchestra and an accompanying analytical essay. Dr. Feezell's background includes extensive study in music history, orchestration, form, harmony, counterpoint, notation, serialism, twentieth-century music, acoustics, Schenkerian analysis, and electronic music. For his Master's degree, he wrote a theory thesis exploring a new method of textural analysis. Dr. Feezell has presented analytical papers at conferences of the College Music Society and the Texas Society for Music Theory.
