	Bio
	Matthew Scott Phillips has been composing music since 1996. During that time He has earned a B.A. in Music, with a Concentration in Music Technology, from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and has been a practicing member of the Birmingham Art Music Alliance. His scores include four Symphonies, two String Quartets, and various works for Chamber Ensembles, and Chamber Orchestras. His Musical style has been described as leaning in a Classical/Romantic tradition, with some slightly more modern feels and philosophies. Matthew is currently pursuing Graduate level Studies and resides in Birmingham Alabama, United States.

This is my 2nd String Quartet. Having learned a great deal since composing my 1st String Quartet, I have attempted to write a slightly more evolved piece this time around.

My Third Symphony is an intensely programtic one. The story is of an unamed "Hero" who triumphs over evil only in death. The first movement is a recollection made by the mourners at his funeral, of his rise to greatness. The second movement tells of his battle with evil and his first defeat. The third: his inner suffering and the loss of hope for his people. In the forth, while the enemy gloats over their victory, the hero reaches an epiphany;...
